Crystallization wheel is a key component in the copper rod and aluminum rod continuous casting and rolling production line. Its working principle is to pour the copper liquid and aluminum liquid which reach the specified temperature into the continuous rotating crystallization wheel groove, and then crystallize and form the casting billet under the continuous pouring of internal and external cooling water. And then the billet will enter into the rolling machine to be rolled into the rod meeting the requirements.
The quality of the crystallization wheel directly determines whether the copper rod and aluminum rod production line can achieve high quality and high yield, so it should have good fatigue resistance, heat resistance and wear resistance.
To ensure long service life and optimal billet formation, the wheel is manufactured with precise groove geometry, uniform cooling design, and surface treatment technology that resists scaling and deformation during high-temperature casting.
It plays a vital role in stabilizing billet dimensions and surface quality, making it a cornerstone of efficient, high-yield casting processes.
Common material for crystallization wheel: pure copper, chromium zirconium copper.

The crystallization wheel is a key component in continuous casting and rolling lines. It works by receiving molten copper or aluminum at a specified temperature into its rotating groove, where the liquid crystallizes into a casting billet under continuous internal and external cooling water before entering the rolling machine.
Crystallization wheels are commonly manufactured from high-performance copper alloys, including pure copper (Cu), chromium zirconium copper (CuCrZr), and copper nickel silicon chromium (CuNiSiCr), to ensure optimal thermal conductivity and mechanical strength.
To guarantee a long service life and high-yield production, a crystallization wheel must feature excellent fatigue resistance, high heat resistance, wear resistance, precise groove geometry, uniform cooling capabilities, and advanced surface treatments to prevent scaling and thermal deformation.
Common outer diameters include 1100mm, 1300mm, 1500mm, 1600mm, 1800mm, 2000mm, 2200mm, 2300mm, 2500mm, 3100mm, and 3800mm. Custom specifications can also be manufactured upon request.
Compared to pure copper wheels, New-type CuCrZr wheels offer significantly higher softening temperatures (500°C vs 250°C), superior tensile strength (410 N/mm² vs 170 N/mm²), and greater hardness (125 HB vs 40 HB) while maintaining an excellent electrical conductivity of 80% IACS.
